Prompt: Eat Your Noodles Day

How many days – no, months – in a row had he been forced to make spaghetti for dinner at his request? And now out of the blue, he wasn’t going to eat it?

Dean knew it wasn’t entirely his brother’s fault. It’s not like him or John kept him looped in on their finances, but still. The kid was smart, so how did he not see it was either the end of the bag of spaghetti and sauce, or no dinner at all?

Did he ever hear Dean complaining about a food being made wrong? No! Because Dean knew the value of having food, and knew that ‘wrong’ food was better than going to bed hungry.

Sure the blonde did his best to make sure Sammy never had to know that feeling, but it’s not like they were rolling in food options. Sammy might not have been privy to the details of their financial struggles, but the bare fridge and cabinets in their latest motel room should’ve been enough to clue him in.

“Dean?”

“What?” The blonde spun around, not quite able to keep the anger out of his voice. As soon as his eyes landed on his brother’s scared face, he regretted it. He forced himself to take in a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself as he made his way toward the table, “What’s wrong with it?”

Sammy flicked his eyes down to the plate, swallowing thickly as he gently pulled the plate back over, “W-well…” His brows furrowed slightly as he used the fork to gesture at some dry noodles, “I thought you couldn’t eat uncooked noodles?”
