That’s right, we’ve finally reached the clown giant!
I was actually putting off adding McDonald’s to the Vegan Fast Food series, because I assumed there would be nothing vegan to eat and would thus, be a waste of time – or, be a collage of like, 5 things – but to my surprise, there were more than 5 things total that are vegan.
Now, don’t get too excited, they are still very behind the times and lack basic things like a Beyond Burger, most ‘vegan’ things are customized vegetarian items and, the majority of things available are drinks, but there were more food options than I initially thought, so I think they deserve a little applause!
So, what things are vegan at McDonald’s?

Starting in the top-left corner, moving clockwise:
- McVeggie (Minus the mayo)
- Plain Bagel (Honey)
- Sesame Seed Bagel (Honey)
- Everything Bagel
- English Muffin
- Hash Browns
- World Famous Fries
- Mini Fries
- Apple Slices
- Baked Apple Pie (Natural butter flavour)
- Baked Strawberry Pie (Natural butter flavour)
- Strawberry Watermelon Refresher
- Blackberry Passionfruit Refresher
- Mango Pineapple Refresher
- Fruitopia Strawberry Passion Awareness (Allura Red, Sunset Yellow FCF)
- Fruitopia Orange Groove (Sunset Yellow FCF, Tartrazine)
- Coke Original
- Coke Zero
- Diet Coke
- Sprite
- Barq’s Root Beer
- Fuze Iced Tea
- Minute Maid Apple Juice
- Minute Maid Orange Juice
- Dasani Water
- McCafe Premium Roast Brewed Coffee
- McCafe Premium Roast Brewed Iced Cofee
- McCafe Premium Roast Brewed Oat Iced Coffee
- McCafe Espresso
- McCafe Double Espresso
- McCafe Americano
- McCafe Salted Caramel Latte (with Oat milk)
- McCafe Salted Caramel Iced Coffee (with Oat milk)
- McCafe Iced Coffee with Sugar-Free Syrup
- McCafe Premium Tea (Peppermint, Green, Lemongrass, Earl Grey, Orange Pekoe)
*All Bagels and English Muffins need to be asked for without butter
I also reached out to McDonald’s customer support in the hopes of getting some clarifying answers to questions I had that their Product Pages/FAQ’s didn’t have answers for for certain other products (including the Baked Apple and Strawberry Pies listing of ‘natural butter flavour’ in their ingredients) but they haven’t gotten back to me at the time this article went up (26.08.17), so I unfortunately had to leave some of the vegan-possible-with-substitutions options out of this article.
Truthfully, without getting confirmation back, I don’t even know if it is actually possible to order a McVeggie without the mayo. (Which honestly? Why bother making the patty vegan if you serve it with something non-vegan! You already offer fish options to satisfy the vegetarianism quota!)
If/when they get back to me, I’ll be happy to add an update to this article!
