“You better watch your tone, Boy.”

Dean did his best to ignore the pang in his stomach at his father’s disapproving voice. His hand only faltered a little, but he kept the gun trained on the intruder’s head, “I’m not gonna ask you again.”

John took a step into the room, “We don’t have time for this.”

“Make time.” Dean took a swift step to the left, effectively cutting off the man’s path, “You’re not getting any weapons – and we damn sure aren’t gonna help you – until you answer my questions.”

“Dean-”

“Or, if you prefer,” Dean cocked the gun, and raised an eyebrow, “I could just kill you now.”

After a tense moment of prolonged eye contact, John let out a deep sigh and his shoulders deflated, “Fine.” He held up his hands in mock surrender and not-so-slowly made his way over to the small dining table in the corner, “Just… ask fast. If this bastard gets away because you were interrogating me…”

Dean gave the man a once over – he sure as hell looked like his father – the way he carried himself, his mannerisms and even his annoyed parent face were all very convincing – but Dean couldn’t shake the feeling something felt… off.

And not just because John was dead.

Dean closed the distance between them, keeping his gun at the ready. He reached into his jacket pocket with his free hand and tossed the silver flask of holy water onto the table, “First things first.”

John raised an eyebrow, “Is this really necessary?”

“You want my help? Drink.”

Important: This is the last story of 2023! I’ll be taking the rest of December and first half of January off from posting. (Not counting the Product Review and Teaser posts)

I’ll be back January 12th, 2024 with the 1st story of the new year!

I hope you guys have enjoyed this year-long challenge of writing stories based on the National Food Days/Months! It was a lot of fun to write and turned out not to be as hard as I initially thought. A lot of the story ideas I have are from years ago, so it was also fun to write a whole year of completely new ideas!

As I said when I first started the challenge, I have a few other ideas for year-long challenges, so let me know if that’s something you guys would be interested in seeing.

I also hope you all have an amazing holiday season/end of your year. Thank-you so much for all your support. I feel like I can never truly express how grateful I am to each and every one of you for supporting my writing. You guys are amazing, and I can’t wait to share another year with you. <3

Hallucifer, Dark-ish, 2023’s New Years fic

Prompt: Champagne Day

“Sam…”

The giant’s shoulders tensed as the sweet voice floated through the bathroom door. He screwed his eyes shut, grip on the edges of the sink getting harder, please, don’t.

“Sammy…”

“Stop it.”

“Stop what?”

He barely had the strength to lift his head to face his hallucination who was perched on the toilet, “D-don’t use her.”

Lucifer tilted his head to one side, feigned confusion looking almost genuine, “Use who?”

“Let me in, baby.”

“I…” Sam hung his head again, knuckles turning white against the sink as he attempted to use it to keep his grip on reality, “I can’t… Please, Lucifer.”

“Well,” The smirk in the devil’s voice was evident, even without seeing his face, “you know I love when you’re polite, but I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Jess!” Sam spun away from the sink, lips curling back into a snarl, sudden burst of rage overtaking him, “Use whoever else you want, Bobby, Dean – hell, even Mom – whatever. Tie me up and torture me, I don’t care. Just stop using her!”

Lucifer blinked at the outburst, clearly taken aback. He slowly held his hands up in mock surrender, expression changing to one of… if Sam didn’t know any better, he’d say concern, “I’m not doing anything, Sam.”

“Oh, right,” The giant rolled his eyes, pointing a thumb over his shoulder, “You expect me to believe you’re not the one who put her on the other side of the door?”

“But Dean,” Sammy whined, crossing his arms over his chest with a pout, “I want to go play!”

The blonde shook his head as he tucked his brother into the motel bed, “You know the rules. You can’t play outside at night.”

He raised an eyebrow as he pointed to the still sunny window, “It’s not night time!”

Dean chuckled and shook his head, pointing to the clock, “It’s 9pm, dude.”

The 5-year-olds eyes went wide and his jaw dropped open, “B-but it’s still sunny!”

The blonde shrugged before getting up off the bed, “That’s how it is in the summer.”

“But that’s not fair!”

Dean shrugged again, “Sorry, dude. I don’t control the sun.”

Sammy crossed his arms back over his chest and pouted, absently watching his brother get dressed, “Where are you going?”

The blonde shrugged on his jacket, flashing his brother a toothy grin, “Out.”

The youngest rolled his eyes, “Well what am I supposed to do?”

“Well you could try sleeping for one.”

“I can’t sleep when it’s sunny!” He pulled a face, “I’m not a baby, y’know.”

Dean shot him a sideways glance as he sat on the edge of the other bed, pulling his shoes on, “Oh sure, pouting because you aren’t getting your way is so grown up.”
